Description

In the heart of Asheville lies a treasured family estate, now available for the first time in generations. This property is secluded where turkey, deer, and other wildlife roam, yet it is one of the most convenient locations you will find. Two parcels intertwine for a total of 3.4 acres to create a haven of possibility. The main house, with its 3 bedrooms and 2 baths was just updated with brand new LVP flooring. A gas log fireplace in the family room sets the scene for cozy gatherings, while a screened back porch offers year round access to the outdoors. The bedrooms are incredibly spacious and the primary bedroom has a large ensuite bath. Below, a partially finished basement awaits your personal touch, complemented by an oversized 2-car garage with a workshop for projects and storage. The additional parcel affords extra privacy or an investment opportunity and includes an out building, with a charming log cabin facade, that can be used as extra storage or a whimsical play space.

Seller's Scoop

  • View: Waking up and looking out the living room windows early in the mornings enjoying my coffee, and watching the birds, squirrels, turkey, and deer down the drive toward the cabin.
  • Room: We love our screened-in porch and covered grilling area in the afternoons and evenings. This is where we kick back and relax, and have friends come over to share a meal together and talk about the old days and what the future holds.
  • Tree: The beautiful poplars and oaks.
  • Walk: Long private road provides a great place to walk any time of day with plenty of shade from the trees. Great place for young and old alike to walk and enjoy nature.
  • Hike: Minutes away from Lake Powhatan and Bent Creek Experimental Forest trail system that's very popular among cyclists, trail runners, and hikers.
  • Breakfast: Just down the road is Hungry Bear Cafe has the best breakfast in town. Biscuits and gravy out of this world.
  • Lunch: Minutes away from Chick-fil-a. Who doesn't like Chick-fil-a. Especially their peach milkshakes.
  • Dinner: Stone Ridge Tavern. Best ribs in town (fall off the bone).
  • Living Here Has Been: The property for sale is part of an original tobacco farm my parents purchased in 1956. My dad raised tobacco, as a number of families did during that era, to help supplement his income and make ends meet. My dad said tobacco was a 13 month out of the year job. We raised a big garden and had livestock. We canned a lot of our food from our garden for the winter months. Those were hard times, but fond memories. We built our house in 1988 and raised our family here.

We were fortunate to have three grandparents living on the properties while the kids were growing up. It was a wonderful time for all. Through the years numerous improvements have been made (old home place torn down, tobacco barn and coal house torn down, updates to the exterior and interior of our home, paved drive, landscaping, tree clearing, split rail fencing, dry stack retaining wall, utility building turned into a mini log cabin, etc). Sure going to miss the old home place (still will have the fond memories), but time for a change and a chance for someone else to enjoy this beautiful piece of property.
