Meet the Agent: Matt Ogden

Matt Ogden

We’re proud of the team of agents we’ve assembled here at Nest Realty. We think they’re pretty awesome, and we think you will, too. During our “Meet the Agent” series, we sit down with our agents and brokers to learn more about them, what makes them tick, and why they’re passionate about the real estate industry.

In this installment, we chat with Matt Ogden, a Nest Realtor in Harrisonburg, VA.

Nest Realty: Tell us a bit about yourself! What brought you to the area? How long have you lived here?
Matt Ogden: I came to Harrisonburg as a freshman at JMU (James Madison University) in 1992. I haven’t found a good reason to leave town since then.

NR: How did you get into real estate? How long have you been practicing?
MO: After receiving my MBA, I worked in finance/manufacturing sales at a local branch of a large corporation. I missed the human interaction from my past in hospitality, and wanted to find a way to get out of my cubicle and actually help people with important aspects of their lives.

NR: What led you to Nest Realty, as opposed to another brokerage?
MO: The entire team that I’ve worked with my whole career migrated to Nest earlier this year. Our team priority has always been providing an exceptional level of service, so it was a great and obvious choice.

NR: What’s your favorite part of being an agent?
MO: Seeing buyer’s faces when they realize that they have found “the one.”

NR: Do you have a specific area of expertise to offer clients?
MO: I work with buyers and sellers in Rockingham, Augusta, and other local areas.

NR: What are five adjectives to describe you?
MO: Dependable, ethical, honest, friendly, and corny.

NR: Who would be your dream client?
MO: You. If you didn’t run away from my bio after reading that I would describe myself as corny, I think we’ll work pretty well together.

NR: If you had one piece of advice for a first-time home buyer, what would it be?
MO: Start as soon as you can and collect as much info as humanly possible. The more time you spend absorbing info about houses and the market, the better equipped you’ll be when you find the right home.

NR: What’s your favorite season in the Shenandoah Valley and why?
MO: Fall- tailgating, JMU football, pumpkins, mums, leaves, Halloween, all of it. Are there any bad parts of fall???

— Matt focuses his work specifically on residential real estate in Rockingham and Augusta Counties.
